A Weekend in Switzerland

Switzerland during March is absolutely amazing all around! The weather was warm enough during the day to get outside and walk along the small streets of Interlaken, Switzerland under the sun, while the weather in the evenings was cold enough to make your way to the nearest cafe to get some hot chocolate.
My trip to Switzerland consisted of visiting 3 places that I’m sure you may have heard of because they are “must-see” places in Switzerland. I began my time flying into Zürich, Switzerland and spent the evening strolling through the laid-back streets. I spent the last amount of time in Zürich, unfortunately, but from what I gathered from being there the short time I was is that although it is a large city it still somehow manages to give off a very quaint feel to it. The storefronts and restaurants seemed so welcoming as did all of the workers. Of course, I tried cheese fondue at my first restaurant and it was a must-try for anyone visiting Switzerland.
The next day I hopped on a train from Zürich and went to Interlaken, Switzerland. The train ride was so so scenic and, let me tell you, people are not kidding when they tell you Switzerland has some of the best transportation systems because everything was on a very timely schedule that made my travels very easy, efficient, and reliable if planned accordingly. Immediately after I stepped off the train into Interlaken my jaw dropped because I was welcomed to the most adorable small Swiss town that was completely encompassed by surrounding mountains. Interlaken is a very small town, so it made for an easy town to see in a day, but I found so many of my favorite moments spent in Interlaken spent sitting Höhematte Park at the center just looking at the mountains.
Here is small side note for my budget travelers since Switzerland is not necessarily a very budget friendly place to travel due to its high tourist season basically year round. Near the Interlaken West train station is a large store called Migros that has a food court inside that is set up cafeteria style. Here, you can help yourself from a variety of different kinds of foods for a much cheaper price than any other restaurant you could find. I found myself going here a few times because it was also very efficient and accessible.
The following day I visited Grindelwald, Switzerland! I loved it here. It is definitely a hotspot for skiers and snowboarders, so if you are into snow sports this was hands down the place to be, but even though I did not participate in the snow sports I found buying a day-pass for the cable car rides well worth it. This pass was €58 and it allowed you access to any cable car on any mountain at any park in the vicinity of Grindelwald. It really is a fantastic purchase because I spent the day going from mountain to mountain riding on every cable car possible and it was a great way to feel as though I saw all of Grindelwald because from the cable car I literally could!
Switzerland is an absolutely magical place, and I feel as though everyone needs to see it at least once. There’s so much to see during every part of the year, and I can only begin to imagine how beautiful this country is during the summertime!
