For the second part of my spring break, I was able to visit Portugal with my mom for a few days. This was the perfect way to end my spring break, as well as the perfect trip to follow up my most recent one before this to Paris, France, which you can read about here, because I was able to get the balance of experiencing a bustling city and quiet countrysides.

Starting with my absolute favorite part of the trip, Cabo de Roca was simply a natural wonder that was on the top of my list to see during this trip, and it did not disappoint.
I couldn’t recommend coming here during the month of March because not only was the weather the closest to perfect it’s been in a while, but it is also the time in Europe right before tourism starts getting very busy again, so the view and surrounding area were very open and unobstructed by mass amounts of people filing in one after the other.

Although, we didn’t find ourselves going on any official hikes, there are little paths that lead down to some of the rocks that overlook the cliffs that you are free to wander down and sit on. This was such an amazing feeling to be on the absolute most Western edge of Europe.
If you are looking for hiking trails in surrounding areas, Cabo de Roca would be a good place to do so for very beginner friendly trails. The extent of the trails appeared to be ones that were simply routed along the edge of the cliffs overlooking the coast that remained fairly flat throughout it’s entirety.

The natural wonders in Portugal are something that makes it a prime destination from nature lovers. Being able to access these beautiful sights and
explore the surrounding areas for free truly made me fall in love with Portugal.
The Boca do Inferno was another one of the stops that I made while on my way to Cabo de Roca from Lisbon, Portugal where I was staying. This was a wonderful, roughly 2 hour stop spent sitting by the coast on the rocks eating lunch while I watched the waves crash against the cliff side.
Another appealing aspect of Portugal was is affordable and accountable public transportation. Lisbon seemed to be the prime area to make home base during my trip because it was not only affordable, but it was also nearby restaurants, stores, accommodation options, and public transportation access points.

In regard to transportation, public transit and taxi/ uber transit options were both very affordable. Of course public transit is th echeaper option, but simultaneously it is very travel friendly since the transport was typically on time, ran for long periods of the day, and extended throughout long routes that could get you anywhere you wanted to go with no hassle.

Portugal was the prime travel destination for the kind of relaxing, nature- oriented travel I was looking for after spending time in a busy, touristy city. Although, I was hoping to get to do some hikes during my time there, I realized that I ended up having just as good of a time taking things slow while traveling with my mom. It served as a good reminder to slow down every once in a while and take in the things around you that go by very fast.
