A Day Trip to Civita di Bagnoregio

"The Dying City" took my breathe away. Civita di Bagnoregio is a tiny city in the Province of Viterbo in central Italy that is only accessible by walking across a footbridge that connects it to the rest of civilization. This city is referred to as "The Dying City" because although its beauty is forever lasting, its eroding foundation and population of approximately 10 people can only keep it alive for so much longer. Despite its reputation of being th dying city it also remains known as apart of some of the most beautiful towns in Italy, and I completely agree.

My day here was simply spent leisurely strolling through the vine covered walls and delicately decorated homes (or the few that there were). It couldn't have been better. Near the back of the village there was a viewpoint that overlooked the entire mountain range that encloses this village on all sides. I was in awe. I was in awe of everything this little village had not only because of its simplicity and the many cats that roamed around the village, but also its silence and stillness. It is definitely a hidden gem within Italy and I hope everyone gets to experience the dying city that is Civita de Bagnoregio!
