If there’s one thing this trip taught me, it’s that nothing can keep me from missing out on a trip. The 48 hours leading up to this trip were brutal since I was so sick to the point where I had to be bed-bound. However, I was dedicated to make my trip to Scotland because not only have I never been, but I was getting the chance to meet up with my roommate from my first year of college. So, low and behold, I rested as much as I could and managed to be well enough to make this trip which turned out to be an incredible weekend full of rainy walks, cozy coffee shops, and lazy park days.

Despite this trip being rather short, I feel a though I was still able to get a good grasp of the way of the lands in Edinburgh. This is also due to the fact that I got to stay at my roommate’s brother’s house in the suburbs of Scotland who had been living there for a few years, so he was able to give me a more authentic experience during my time there.
This was a rather laid back trip which I was thankful for since I was in recovery, but Edinburgh seemed to be the perfect place to have such a trip. The rainy weather, leisurely walks, and towering castle tops made me feel like I was transported into another time period that I have never experienced anywhere else I have been.

As much as I loved Edinburgh, I found myself almost enjoying the company more. It had nearly been a year since I last saw my roommate, so getting the chance to travel around Europe with her like we used to was the most unbeatable part of this trip.

My takeaway from my time in Edinburgh, Scotland is to ‘take the trip’ because everything else will pass with time, but the experiences and memories you will have and make on your trips are irreplaceable and forever.
