A Weekend in Berlin, Germany
October 11, 2024- October 13, 2024
Did I book a flight to Germany just to see the Wallows live on their Model tour? Why yes, yes I did, and I would do it over a hundred times again.
My first time in Berlin, Germany was the exact kind of trip I needed during this time of the year because it was perfect temperature to get into the fall spirit, but it was also very quiet during this time of year. I could’ve ended up anywhere because my main drive behind booking this trip was to see the Wallows perform and Berlin just happened to be the landing ground.
Of course, the concert was an amazing experience, but getting to attend it in a foreign country in new surroundings makes it so much more memorable than most concerts.
Aside from the concert, I found myself seeking a very calm, collected, and relaxing trip in Berlin even thought it is known for it’s crazy nightlife scene. I stumbled across one museums and found myself landing in the Museum of German Film and Cinema which was very intriguing and interesting despite my lack of knowledge of German cinema.
Obviously, it was almost at the top of my list to see the Berlin Wall and the iconic East Side Gallery. The East Side Gallery was a lovely surprise to me because I was unaware how long it went on for. I have heard of the iconic painting of the “Fraternal Kiss,” but there were so much other wall art that I found to be just as astonishing and intricate. I think one of the most amazing aspects of the East Side Gallery is that it is completely open to the public. Berlin is a very artistic and creative city, so it felt as though every corner I turned I was faced with some sort of graffiti/ paintings that I would hands down classify as art.
Since I was in a relaxing mindset, I decided to spend my evenings going to a jazz club rather than one of the many clubs in Berlin. There was a fair share of jazz clubs to pick from and I added at a very quaint one called “The Hat.”
I love a good jazz club and I was sold on the advertisement of this one because it was very apparent that “there will be jazz” every night of the week. The atmosphere of jazz clubs is one of my favorite things about them because the ambiance established through the music creates a laid back atmosphere no matter how small and packed the place is.
Berlin, Germany was an incredible experince, and, to my surprise, it ended up being one of my favorite cities. I was very clean, quiet, friendly, and travel friendly filled with amazing hostels throughout.
