Summer weather is peaking through, so we went to Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona was a fantastic destination to do exactly what we were planning on doing which was beach, beach, and beach.

I was accompanied on this trip by my best friend and fellow beach lover, Lauren, who I knew would be the perfect person to travel with to this destination. Neither of us had ever been to Barcelona before, but it won over our hearts quickly. I’m not sure if it’s because of the place itself that has sunny days, active beaches, comfortable accommodation, and great vibes, or if it was our go-with-the-flow mentality that Lauren and I take with us on every trip. I have to believe that it is a combination of all the things I mentioned above.

Since it was the entire reason for traveling to Barcelona, Spain, I feel as though I am required to talk about its beaches. During the short time we were here, my favorite beach ended up being Playa de Bogatell.
I enjoyed Playa de Bogatell because of how busy it was. Typically, when I go to beaches I prefer them to be quieter and more lowkey. However, the bustle of this beach was a kind I found myself avidly enjoying.
There were people playing sand volleyball, swimming, walking their dogs, sunbathing, playing music, walking along the shore, and so much more. As someone who enjoys people watching during my travels I found myself being content simply with watching all the different people from different walks of life coming together in the same place to experience a lovely beach day.

Some obvious sights you must see while in Barcelona are its cathedrals. The Cathedral of Barcelona was the first one we saw that we actually stumbled upon accidentally while making our way to the beach one morning. The cathedral was surrounded by small markets selling jewelry, bags, and souvenirs as well as street performers that were dancing, singing, and doing magic tricks.

Finally, must-see site is the Sagrada Familia. I am aware that everyone tells people to go visit this cathedral, but there is a reasons. Lauren and I almost decided to skip over this cathedral because we were running low on time and ticket prices, but we were able to squeeze in an evening and I’m so glad we did. The architecture was simply indescribable and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.
Entrance tickets were a little expensive when we checked sitting at around €50, but we were able to enter through the free entrance line right outside the cathedral with no issues. Of course, we visited during a time of low tourism, so tickets were not sold out and the free entrance line was no longer then a 10 minute wait. However, I can only imagine what the wait time may be like during times of high tourism, so to avoid a gamble I would purchase entrance tickets if you are traveling during high tourism months.
