A Weekend in Abruzzo, Italy

March 29, 2024- April 1, 2024

This weekend I took an impromptu trip to Abruzzo, Italy. After about a 6 hour transit of buses and trains, I arrived in the small town of Vasto which is the most adorable seaside town that made for a perfect weekend trip!

My favorite part about this trip was that all it consisted of was eating delicious poke bowls and basking in the sun on the beach. Sometimes the best trips are the ones that don’t require anything more than simply just being in a new place and feeling apart of it.

During this time of year Vasto is not busy by any means compared to what I’d believe it to be like during the high tourist times of the summer. It was such a quiet and quaint beach town, but somehow it always seems to have something going on. There are small restaurants all along the shoreline, gelato stores, pizza stands, and a small amusement park right on the beach!

In addition to the adorable beach town, you can take a 10 minute bus ride from the beaches of Vasto to the downtown area where you can can find more stores and restaurants if you are looking for something extra to do. However, I can almost guarantee that once you get to Vasto you are not going to want to leave because it’s overall simplicity is it’s most enticing feature!

I’ve visited the region of Abruzzo once before in my travels. However, I spent that time in the mountains that I drove past to get to Vasto that provided a scenic drive to the coast. Abruzzo, Italy is a fantastic place to visit on east side near the Adriatic Sea if you are looking for any kind of vacation in Italy whether it be a weekend at the beach or in the mountains.
